Rank Up/Down Record Team
9-2 Atlanta – Just a few weeks after taking care of the Ravens at home, Atlanta proves once again that they deserve their spot among the league’s elite with a big win over Green Bay. How clutch is Matt Ryan?
9-2 NY Jets – Domination of Cincinnati on both sides of the ball was one of the Jets’ most complete efforts of the season, and shows what this team can be when clicking.
9-2 New England – Defense isn’t going to win any awards this season, but with an offense like the one Tom Brady is running right now, will it matter? Showdown with the Jets this week will be a good test.
8-3 Baltimore – Ravens continue their home dominance with an easy win over Tampa Bay; it’ll be a lot tougher when Pittsburgh comes to town this week.
8-3 Pittsburgh – Lousy second halves are a trend the Steelers probably want to end, but they escape unscathed once again with an OT win over Buffalo. Will need a full four-quarter effort against Baltimore.
2 8-3 New Orleans – Drew Brees seems to be back to his old self, and New Orleans should once again be a very real threat for the duration of the season.
2 8-3 Chicago – Jay Cutler shows he isn’t all bad with 4 TDs, and while the numbers at the end of the game weren’t perfect, this Bears defense did enough to contain Mike Vick. If you were ignoring this team before, you can’t anymore.
2 7-4 Philadelphia – Okay, so Mike Vick and Philadelphia aren’t invincible. Losses happen, and on the road against Chicago is one they get a pass for. Short week before Houston comes to town Thursday.
2 7-4 Green Bay – Losing on the road to a red-hot elite team certainly isn’t the end of the world. Should have an easy rebound on their hands in San Francisco this week.
1 7-4 NY Giants – It required a late comeback effort, but the Giants were able to pick up the win against a pesky Jacksonville team. This wasn’t quite the statement game they were looking for, but a win is a win.
2 7-4 Kansas City – Dismantling of the usually tough-at-home Seahawks shows that Kansas City isn’t going to just hand San Diego the AFC West without a fight.
2 6-5 San Diego – Going into Indianapolis and stealing one is one thing. Going in and dominating is another. It is starting to look like San Diego won’t lose another game this season.
3 6-5 Indianapolis – Four interceptions by Peyton Manning? The week after throwing a crucial interception to lose the New England game? Surrounded by injuries or not, no one could have foreseen these struggles for Manning.
2 7-4 Tampa Bay – The Buccaneers fall to 0-4 against teams with winning records. They get another chance to break that trend at home against Atlanta this week.
3 6-5 Miami – One week after looking completely hopeless at home, Miami puts together a great effort on the road to cruise to an easy win over the Raiders behind great performances by Chad Henne and Davone Bess. Can they turn this into a winning streak against Cleveland?
1 6-5 Jacksonville – Valiant effort against the Giants, but a win would have put Jacksonville in much better shape to steal the division from the slumping Colts.
1 5-6 Oakland – Respond to humiliating loss to Pittsburgh with another awful loss at home against Miami. Both quarterbacks look bad; the fun looks to be over in Oakland.
2 5-6 Houston – Took full advantage of the skidding Titans with a shutout victory at home. Can they use this momentum to steal one in Philly?
3 5-6 St. Louis – Sam Bradford throws for 300 yards and 3 TDs on the road in a winning effort; even the most optimistic Rams fans couldn’t have hoped for this quick of a turnaround.
3 5-6 Tennessee – Rusty Smith didn’t stand a chance at quarterback, and this team looks nothing like the 5-2 team it once was.
2 5-6 Washington – Momentum of overtime win over Tennessee failed to carry over into this ugly loss at home against Miami. Road trip to New York to face the Giants this week doesn’t look promising.
1 5-6 Seattle – 12th man did the Seahawks no good against the surging Chiefs; should be able to handle the lowly Panthers coming to town this week, though.
4-7 Cleveland – Had way more trouble with Carolina than they should have, but the Browns pick up the win and continue to show they are moving in the right direction.
1 4-7 Minnesota – Leslie Frazier picks up a win in his head coaching debut; will he spark the Vikings like Jason Garrett has sparked the Cowboys, or was this just a case of beating the struggling Redskins? Time will tell.
1 3-8 Dallas – Frustrating Thanksgiving Day loss, but to come back from down 17-0 in the first quarter to make a game of it showed a lot of fight; something the Cowboys hadn’t had all season under Wade Phillips.
1 4-7 San Francisco – The 49ers cruise to an easy win… over Arizona. Brian Westbrook filled in admirably, but Frank Gore’s season-ending injury hurts what little chance the 49ers had left of taking the NFC West.
1 3-8 Denver – I haven’t been right on much this season, but my prediction that Denver would finish worst in the AFC West is looking pretty good right about now.
2-9 Buffalo – Buffalo fights hard in a close overtime loss yet again, their third in the last six games. Despite their record, this team is not an easy out.
3-8 Arizona – No team is playing as consistently poorly as Arizona is right now; it is STILL a wonder that they found a way to win three games.
2-9 Detroit – Ugly blowout loss at home on Thanksgiving; some traditions can be counted on every year.
2-9 Cincinnati – This team one the AFC North last year, and came into this season with high expectations. I can’t believe it, either.
1-10 Carolina – 42-yard field goal attempt away from picking up their second win of the season; but you don’t have the worst record in the NFL without a bit of bad luck.
