Rank Up/Down Record Team
8-0 Oregon – With another big win over USC, Oregon continues their path to the National Championship, and their mascot soars over 2000 push-ups on the year.
9-0 Auburn – Cam Newton is running away in Heisman trophy polls, and only home games against Chattanooga and Georgia remain in the way of their showdown at Alabama.
7-0 Boise State – No bye weeks next five weeks is helpful, but will it matter? Winner of TCU/Utah and Alabama still have chance to jump them.
9-0 TCU – No letdown in crushing win over UNLV; now the season-defining test on the road against Utah. Huge statement game.
1 7-1 Alabama – In order to keep their National Championship hopes alive until their regular season-ender with Auburn, they’ll need to take care of tricky LSU this week.
2 8-0 Utah – Longest home winning streak in the nation sits at 20 games; extending it to 21 over TCU would be monumental.
2 7-1 Wisconsin – With Michigan State’s loss, you could argue that Wisconsin is the best team in the Big Ten… even if their one loss did come to Michigan State.
2 8-1 Ohio State – Road woes non-existent in 42-point win over Minnesota; but they needed to get over them a bit sooner than that.
2 7-1 Oklahoma – Only the third game away from home for Oklahoma this week at Texas A&M, and they lost the last one; they’ll need to be focused.
2 7-1 Stanford – What shaky defense? Shutout win over Jake Locker’s Washington shows how good this team can be when clicking on all cylinders.
3 7-1 Nebraska – Big wins back-to-back at Oklahoma State and home against Missouri… hard to believe they’d lose to this Texas team again if given a do-over, but that’s college football.
1 7-1 LSU – Defense will have to be impeccable and Les Miles’ bag of tricks will have to be full for LSU to win in Alabama; but it isn’t impossible.
3 7-1 Arizona – Survived Nick Foles’ injury with wins over Washington and UCLA; road game at Stanford first of a gauntlet of tough November games for the Wildcats.
7 7-1 Missouri – National Championship dreams squashed in road trip to Nebraska; need to try to keep season from unraveling with three of last four games still on the road.
10 8-1 Michigan State – Didn’t even look like they belonged on the same field as Iowa last week. Surprising from a team that has fought so hard all season.
3 6-2 Iowa – Both losses were in thrilling games against two great teams (Arizona and Wisconsin)… this is a great team. Could still win out, even with three of last four on the road and home game against Ohio State.
6-2 South Carolina – Home game against Arkansas this week is big, but the game at Florida next week will decide the SEC East.
6-2 Arkansas – Their only two losses came to two teams in my Top 5. Trip to South Carolina this week will give us a good idea of where this team currently stands.
1 7-1 Oklahoma State – Bouncing back from Nebraska loss against a tough Kansas State game was no easy feat, but it doesn’t get any easier this week at home against Baylor.
1 7-2 Mississippi State – The big three in the SEC West are getting the hype, but Mississppi State is having a great season as well. They’ll have the week off to prepare for a road trip to Alabama.
2 6-2 Virginia Tech – Pre-season, this week’s game at home against Georgia Tech looked like it could have lots of implications. In the present, not so much.
3 7-2 Baylor – Win at Texas would be considered huge most years, and Baylor deserves credit for it; unfortunately, UCLA and Iowa State already rode that boat out of port.
7-1 Nevada – Loss to Hawaii still sticks out like a sore thumb, but the rushing offense has been impressive and this could still be Boise State’s last test.
9 6-2 Florida State – Entering the second half with a 21-7 lead, Florida State letting the game slip away was inexcusable. Tough year for the ACC.
6-2 North Carolina State – Gamble to go for the go-ahead TD instead of taking a game-tying field goal pays off with the huge win. NC State now controls their own destiny in the ACC Atlantic, but tough games ahead.

Dropped Out: Miami (#22), USC (#24)
