Rank Up/Down Record Team
10-0 Oregon – Survived their biggest scare of the season at Cal; defense stepped up big time.
11-0 Auburn – One win away from a 12-0 regular season, but Cam Newton media frenzy will make it hard to focus for the Alabama game.
1 9-0 Boise State – It was only Idaho, but Boise State looked dominant in a week where the rest of the Top 4 did not.
1 11-0 TCU – Short of losing, couldn’t have been a worse week for TCU; their two best wins suffered awful losses (Oregon State and Utah), and they didn’t look sharp at all against San Diego State. Fair or not, style points matter for Non-BCS teams.
9-1 LSU – Cruised to an easy win over ULM, and should get another one at home against Ole Miss next week.
9-1 Wisconsin – The Badgers put up video game numbers in their 83-20 win over Indiana last week; basketball video game numbers, that is.
9-1 Stanford – Survived a tough game at Arizona State; defense has come around in a big way, holding opponents to 17 or less in three straight games.
9-1 Nebraska – Comfortable win over lowly Kansas last week, and now a very interesting Big-12 gut check at Texas A&M.
9-1 Ohio State – Stumbled out of the gate, but recovered to cruise to a comfortable win over Penn State. This week’s meeting at Iowa should be a great game, but means a lot less then we thought it would.
1 9-1 Oklahoma State – Maybe winning in Texas ISN’T impressive this year, but that isn’t Oklahoma State’s fault; they took care of business.
1 9-1 Michigan State – Win over Purdue should be easy; an Iowa win over Ohio State would give the Spartans control of their Rose Bowl destiny.
8-2 Alabama – Solid bounce back win over Mississippi State, but bounce back to what? Disappointing season no matter how you cut it for this Championship-or-Bust team.
1 8-2 Arkansas – The Razorbacks continue to look great, and have the chance to sort out their place in the SEC West with last two games at Mississippi State and vs. LSU.
4 8-2 Virginia Tech – We’ve seen this story play out before; VTech bounces back from some early season losses and storms into the ACC Title Game. Boise State is loving every minute of it.
4 8-2 Missouri – Just 1-2 on the road this season, but roadies at Iowa State and Kansas are manageable.
4 8-2 Oklahoma – Blowout win over Texas Tech reaffirms what we already know about Oklahoma; they can beat anyone, as long as it is on their home field. At Baylor and at Oklahoma State to end the season will be tough.
5 7-3 South Carolina – Almost everyone was crowning Florida champions of the SEC East, but South Carolina went into the swamp and won convincingly. Great season for the Gamecocks.
5 7-3 Texas A&M – The somewhat overlooked team in the Big 12 will be hard to ignore any longer if they top Nebraska this week.
2 9-1 Nevada – With Fresno State out of the way, Nevada will go into the Boise State game 10-1 after beating New Mexico State this week. Can they make it interesting?
7 7-3 Iowa – A slow start because you’re looking ahead to Ohio State is one thing; outright losing to Northwestern is another.
5 7-3 Mississippi State – Couldn’t knock off Alabama last week, but they get another shot to prove themselves at home this week against Arkansas.
7-3 USC – Very nice win for the Trojans at Arizona, but they don’t have much time to celebrate; at Oregon State is a historically tough game for this team.
6 7-3 Arizona – Brutal stretch of games to close out the season showing us Arizona isn’t quite there yet in the Pac-10 pecking order.
7-3 Miami – Convincing win at Georgia Tech showed us what Miami can be when they are on; can they put together a complete effort and upset Virginia Tech at home?
10 8-2 Utah – Two straight awful performances for the Utes; hard to believe they were so close to the top just two short weeks ago.

Dropped Out: Florida (#24), Baylor (#25)
