My 2010 NFL Power Rankings Week 8
Rank | Up/Down | Record | Team |
---|---|---|---|
| – | 5-1 | NY Jets – Got off to a 5-1 start without a healthy Darrelle Revis, and now they have him back at 100%; the best may be yet to come. |
| – | 5-1 | Pittsburgh – Dodged a bullet with a controversial call in Miami; but controversy aside, a nice win on the road against a tough team. Another tough road game this week at New Orleans. |
| – | 5-1 | New England – Defense stepped up against San Diego last week, and Minnesota isn’t looking so dangerous with a hobbled Brett Favre this week. |
| – | 5-2 | Baltimore – Ugly game for Baltimore’s defense against Buffalo, but a win is a win. Having Ed Reed back will be a huge boost down the stretch. |
| 1 | 5-2 | Atlanta – Nice bounce-back win at home over Cincinnati. They enter their bye tied with New York for the best record in the NFC. |
| 1 | 4-2 | Indianapolis – Bye week brought bad news of Dallas Clark lost for the season. Change to get revenge for opening game loss to Houston this Monday Night at home. |
| 2 | 5-2 | Tennessee – Tennessee is on a roll, winners of three straight and scoring 30+ points in all three. Can they keep it rolling at San Diego? |
| 2 | 5-2 | NY Giants – Improving to 5-2 while effectively ending a hated rival’s season on Monday Night Football; not many better ways to head into a bye. |
| 2 | 4-2 | Houston – The Texans have already beaten Indianapolis once this season; if they can do it again in Indianapolis, the shift in power would be hard to ignore. |
| 3 | 4-2 | Kansas City – Blowout win over Jacksonville yet another notch on this impressive young team’s belt. More winnable games ahead against Buffalo and Oakland. |
| 3 | 4-3 | Philadelphia – If there was any doubt that Michael Vick would take back over as starter after the bye, Kolb’s unproductive two-interception day at Tennessee sealed the deal. |
| 3 | 4-3 | Green Bay – Advantageous defense and Aaron Rodgers were finally able to beat Brett Favre last week. Big test this week at New York (Jets). |
| 3 | 4-3 | Washington – Four-interception day by DeAngelo Hall fueled big win over Chicago; winnable game this week against Detroit. |
| 8 | 4-3 | New Orleans – Hard to find any excuse for a loss at home to Cleveland. Big chance for redemption this week against Pittsburgh, but it won’t come easy. |
| 3 | 4-3 | Chicago – Four interceptions that lead to a loss? This looks a little more like the Jay Cutler we all know than the one who started the season off 3-0. |
| 2 | 3-3 | Miami – Tough way to lose a game to Pittsburgh on a blown call; but failing to make the most of early red zone trips was the reason it was close in the first place. |
| 4 | 4-2 | Seattle – More special teams magic in home win over Arizona. This week’s showdown against Oakland is quite intriguing for both teams. |
| 4 | 4-2 | Tampa Bay – Win over St. Louis last week gives the Bucs more wins than they had in all of 2009, and they haven’t even hit the halfway point yet. |
| 2 | 2-4 | Minnesota – Brett Favre’s ankle injury makes him a game-time decision this week against New England; there are a couple of fans out there hoping he can’t go, aren’t there? |
| 2 | 2-4 | Cincinnati – In the super-competitive AFC, Cincinnati is running out of time to turn things around. They’ll have to get started this week against Miami. |
| 2 | 3-3 | Arizona – Offense looked hopeless against Seattle last week. Was getting rid of Matt Leinart really the right thing to do? |
| 2 | 3-4 | St. Louis – Not including the blowout loss to Detroit, St. Louis’s other three losses have been by a combined seven points. No doubt this team can compete. |
| 5 | 3-4 | Oakland – Where did 59 points come from?!? Looks like Darren McFadden has finally emerged as the star back he was drafted to be. Potentially season-defining pair of games up next in Seattle and Kansas City. |
| 1 | 3-4 | Jacksonville – Another blowout loss. Joy from the upset over Indianapolis has all but worn off for Jags fans at this point. |
| – | 2-5 | San Diego – The fact that it was close against New England doesn’t matter; San Diego keeps beating themselves. Annual kick-start is running a bit late this season. |
| 4 | 2-5 | Cleveland – Amazing upset win over New Orleans fueled by two pick-sixes, they’ve got an extra week to celebrate with the bye. |
| 3 | 2-5 | Denver – Losing 59-14 at home is a good way to make the flight to Europe a lot less light-hearted. Loss to San Francisco would all but end their season, even in the AFC West. |
| 2 | 1-5 | Dallas – Not only did they fall to 1-5, but they lost Tony Romo, too. Jacksonville may be a win this week, but it is unlikely to spark any magical runs at this point. |
| – | 1-5 | Detroit – Matt Stafford is back, but can he lead the Lions to wins? First test comes against Washington. |
| 2 | 1-5 | Carolina – Finally, a win! Hardly a season-saver, but at least they finally got one. |
| 4 | 1-6 | San Francisco – So much for winning the NFC West. At this point, just getting back to .500 would be considered a successful season. |
| 1 | 0-6 | Buffalo – The offense is there, but giving up 33 points per game, it isn’t much of a surprise the Bills are winless. |
